An 18 month old boy was brought with abdominal distension since three weeks
The CT scan of the abdomen shows a large, well-defined, heterogeneously enhancing exophytic mass arising from the lower pole of the left kidney. It shows the "claw sign". The lesion measures approximately 8.7 × 7.5 × 10 cm and contains few cystic areas with vascularity. No fat or calcification is notedIn the lesion. The lesion does not cross the midline. A similar, smaller exophytic lesion is also arises from the lower pole of the right kidney, measuring approximately 2 cm in diameter. Oh.
Wilms tumor is named after the German surgeon Max Wilms (1867–1918). He is credited with providing the first comprehensive medical description of the disease in 1899.
