A 42 year old man presented with shortness of breath after inhalation of toxic fumes four days ago.
The frontal chest radiograph shows diffuse, patchy , subcentimeter, nodular, soft tissue opacities involving both lung fields. The opacities are predominantly perihilar and mid to lower zones. HRCT of the chest shows diffuse peribronchovascular ground glass nodules involving both the lungs. There are tiny centrilobular nodules in tree in bud pattern in both lungs; many of these coalesce to form patchy consolidations in the right upper lobe, lateral segment of the right middle lobe, posterior and lateral basal segments of the right lower lobe and posterior basal segment of the left lower lobe.
