The MRI demonstrates T2 hyperintense, Tl hypointense signal at the anterosuperior corner of L5 and anteroinferior corner of D12, suggestive of active inflammation (‘shiny corner sign’). There is T1/T2 hyperintense signal at the anteroinferior corner of L3 vertebral body. There is loss of STIR signal in both the sacroiliac joints, juxtaarticular adjacent sacrum and ilium suggestive of fatty infiltration, likely sequelae to chronic inflammation.
