A 45 year old woman came with a mildly painful neck swelling since one year. The swelling moved up and down with protrusion of the tongue. Her thyroid profile was normal.
Ultrasound examination of the swelling shows a cystic structure containing hypo- to anechoic fluid with echogenic debris. There is a solitary, eccentric, solid, predominantly hard lesion in the cystic structure. The lesion has irregular borders. Small punctate echogenicities are seen throughout the lesion- suggestive of microcalcifications. An FNAC was performed from the cyst fluid and the solid component.
