A 38 year old woman came with abdominal pain since five months
MRI of the pelvis shows a large, multiloculated, T2 hyperintense, T1 hypointense, cystic lesion with thin sepatations in the left adnexa. It extends into the pouch of Douglas and is not seen separately from the left ovary. There are no solid components/thickened irregular septations/papillary projections in the lesion.
The pouch of Douglas is named after James Douglas (1675–1742) , an 18th-century Scottish anatomist and physician. He was a prominent man-midwife and physician to Queen Caroline.
