Pea in pod
MRI of the brain shows multiple, variable sized, central T2/FLAIR hyperintense, peripherally enhancing, T1 isointense lesions with a T2 hypointense rim in both the cerebral and cerebellar hemispheres with significant perilesional edema. The largest lesion measures 26 x 21mm and is located in the right frontal lobe. The lesions show peripheral diffusion restriction and eccentric nodularity - suggestive of the 'pea in pod' sign. On spectroscopy, lipid, lactate and amino acid peaks are noted.
