Viking helmet
Non contrast enhanced CT scan of the brain shows the bodies of the lateral ventricles to be parallel to each other, slit like and widely separated (‘race-car’ appearance) with narrow frontal horns (‘Viking helmet’ sign). The third ventricle is placed higher than normal. There is dilation of the occipital horns and the trigone of the lateral ventricles. The corpus callosum is absent.
