A 17 year old boy came with history of penetrating trauma to the left eye; an evisceration was performed. There was conjunctival edema and swelling of the eyelids on the second postoperative day.
B mode ultrasonography of the left orbit shows a linear echogenicity along the anterior aspect of the globe likely to be the conjunctival suture. An ill-defined, hyperechoic collection is seen in the globe suggestive of a hematoma in the posterior segment. There is exuberant granulation tissue with increased vascularity surrounding the globe and in the conjunctiva.
