Hirschsprung's disease is named after Harald Hirschsprung, the Danish physician who first described the condition in 1888.While Hirschsprung's case descriptions in 1888 were crucial, the disease itself was first documented even earlier by other physicians such as Frederick Ruysch in 1691 and Domenico Battini in 1800.
