The MRI of the brain reveals T2 /FLAIR hyperintensity in the central pons (trident shaped) with sparing of peripheral pons. T2/FLAIR hyperintensity with diffusion restriction is seen in both the thalami, basal ganglia and subcortical white matter of both the cerebral hemispheres.
