A 40 year old woman presented with complaints of swelling in the neck since one year, dysphagia and hoarseness of voice for three months
Frontal and lateral radiographs of the neck show a soft tissue opacity in the left paratracheal region indenting the trachea and displacing it to the right and anteriorly. The prevertebral space is widened with an air fluid level in the anterior neck and the prevertebral regions. Small foci of air are seen in the swelling.
The esophagogram shows complete distortion of hypopharyngeal anatomy. There is aspiration of contrast into trachea. There is obstruction in the passage of the water soluble contrast in the post cricoid region beyond the laryngopharynx .The esophagus is not opacified . The contrast is seen to track into the prevertebral space.
The CECT of the neck shows a heterogeneously enhancing lesion in the postcricoid region with collections containing multiple air foci and air fluid levels in the visceral space, anterior cervical space and retropharyngeal space.
