There is a large cystic structure in the posterior fossa communicating with the dilated fourth ventricle. The cerebellar vermis is hypoplastic. THe lateral ventricle are markedly dilated.

Dandy-Walker malformation is named after neurosurgeons Walter Dandy and Arthur Walker, who described the condition in the 1900s.
