A 37 year old woman with a painful swelling in the right neck region since four months.
The MRI of the neck shows a well defined, lobulated T1 isointense and T2/STIR heterogeneously hyperintense lesion with multiple flow voids in the right carotid space causing mild splaying of ICA and ECA . It shows patchy areas of restricted diffusion and corresponding low ADC. On T1, a few hyperintense areas are seen representing slow flow and haemorrhage. The lesion shows intense enhancement on the post contrast scan. The lesion is supplied by the right ascending pharyngeal artery.
