A twelve year old girl was brought by her parents with short stature, muscle cramps and generalized weakness. The serum calcium was low; the parathormone level was elevated.

Radiographs of both the hands show short fourth metacarpal bones bilaterally. There are no focal lesions. Bone mineralisation is normal.
